The library was constructed in 2009 and is a valuable resource for the school. The library has books donated from a multitude of sources and has dictionaries and thesauruses, a precious commodity in rural Malawi. The learners have lessons on the library and Expand is preparing a Literacy Boost project for 2016. The library at Chisala has a librarian who was trained in Mzuzu Library and also has a TV and DSTV to show films and sports events for fundraising.
Every year expand donates around GBP 1,000 towards maintenance and the School Management Committee comprised of community members decide on what needs to be done. Expand pays for the salary of an Expand Project Manager, a watchman, and a librarian.
